2025-26 Jaydin– outbound to Sweden Winter

Apr 24, 2026

My last journal entry was back in November, and now we’re in April. My entire outlook on exchange has changed since then.
I’ve really settled into the culture, and I’ve been putting alot of thought into studying / moving here later in life. Since before I got here I’d been researching Sweden’s standard way of life… and the balance I’ve seen between work / life is fascinating. I’d love to pursue a career in psychology while spending my down time in the forests or training martial arts. Winter was difficult mentally, but I’m grateful for it. Without the friction, I wouldn’t have been able to appreciate spring as much as I have been.

With the winter season finally dying down, spring’s been reminding me of how I feel at my best. The sun is back out, and I’ve been spending my time outdoors. I’ve gotten back into hiking and camping, which has been stimulating. I’m starting to see new flowers every other day. We don’t have extreme seasons in Florida, so all of this is just about new. It feels like a fairy-tale, and it’s only just begun. That being said, my exchange is getting closer to the finish line. I’ve still got some time, but it’s interesting how we appreciate things more once they’re gone / leaving. It’s always good to take note of the little things though. I play in an orchestra and have been hanging out with a new group at school. The host family I’m staying with now is lovely, and I really like the small town feel here.

I’ve been coming along pretty well with the language too! Wanting to live here has helped alot in motivating me to stay disciplined. Thanks for checking in, bye!  ‎
